About the Corvallis Chapter of the Software Association of Oregon

Formed in 1989, the Software Association of Oregon (SAO) fosters an environment that fuels the growth of Oregon's software industry. Our members enjoy exceptional networking and educational opportunities, critical workforce development programs, and valuable member services. Whether you are a start-up software developer, established industry leader, an IT organization, or a provider of services to the industry, your company will benefit from an SAO membership.

Today, software is ubiquitous and forms one of Oregon’s recognized industry clusters while standing as part of the economic foundation of our state. There are many companies whose business it is to develop and deliver software while other companies embed software in their products, which range from cars to microchips. But all companies, as well as individuals, depend on software to both do business and live our lives.

The SAO has a fundamental commitment to maintaining a high-quality environment, in which software-dependent organizations can be established, prosper and grow. In 2004, the SAO developed a three-pronged strategy to support this mission and labeled it Start, Move, Grow. The obvious message is to help start new software companies, move existing companies to Oregon and grow resident companies.

We are also proud to administer the Oregon Training Network. This state-funded program is designed to offer advanced software-related training to workers employed in all types of IT organizations. This effort will help to ensure Oregon’s competitiveness across all industries by strengthening our IT and software functions while expanding employment opportunities.
